Kitchen Essentials

Hey Everyone. I hope you all are having a great morning! Things have been a little slow around here. We conquered our usual morning routine and I managed to feed Fé some homemade yogurt and bananas without needing to dip her in the bathtub! Fé is playing with some of her new toys (grandma and grandpa have been spoiling her lately) as I stare into the kitchen reflecting on some of my most beloved kitchen essentials. I wanted to share with you all some things that I use on a daily basis and that I, quite frankly, couldn’t live without!

Kitchen Essentials Every Millennial Needs:

1. Electric Tea Kettle

After living in the UK, I have switched out my Keurig coffee for Nescafe instant coffee. I know, some of you might be appalled by this but I actually really love it! It tastes pretty much the same and is only a fraction of the cost! I even got my parents hooked on it!

With that being said, I am a huge coffee drinker (although I am trying to drink more green tea) and our Hamilton Beach Glass Kettle has gotten a lot of use! I love the modern glass look of this kettle and the cool blue illumination when it is turned on.

2. Salad Spinner

Ever since we have been back in the United States, we have been making a point of having salads with our dinner every night! Our OXO Stainless Steel Salad Spinner is a super easy way to wash and dry lettuce so everything stays crisp and crunchy. There is nothing I dislike more than soggy lettuce and with this salad spinner that never happens.

This salad spinner makes salad-making fun and easy and Fé loves watching the lettuce go around and around!

3. Kitchen Scale

Our Cuisinart kitchen scale gets a lot of use these days, especially since I have been being more mindful of what I am eating. (check out my weight loss journey!)

I use the scale to measure out milk in my coffee and to help track my food. I also use it when making up Fés bottles.

4. Instant Pot

Oh My Goodness, I LOVE the Instant Pot! I was first introduced to it by my mom and have been a total convert ever since. I use my instant pot every couple of days to make a batch of our homemade yogurt which always turns out amazing. I also use it for rice and so many other recipes. It has become a staple and I couldn’t imagine life without it! (Yes, I love it that much). If there is only one kitchen essential on this list that you feel like you need to get, its this one!

5. Glass Food Storage Containers

I love having a set of glass storage containers because they make reheating food so much easier! We use our containers every day whether we are saving some leftovers or eating last nights leftovers for lunch!

6. Nutribullet Blender

Our Nutribullet Blender was probably one of the best purchases we have ever made. We actually first bought on in Holland but we had to leave it behind. When we got to the states it was one of the first things I wanted in our kitchen. It is so much easier to use than a traditional blender and requires minimal clean-up.

Whether I am whipping up a protein shake, a fruit smoothie for Fé, or even soup (like this classic Pumpkin Soup recipe) it has held up to the job. My sister-in-law uses it everyday to make her iced coffee!

7. Avocado Slicer

If you are an avocado lover, like me, you will love this handy little tool. Before I got this, whenever I tried to slice avocado it would end up as guacamole! Good for taco night, but not so great when I want it sliced on my salad.

The OXO Avocado slicer makes it so easy to get perfectly sliced avocados without making a huge mess!

8. Ceramic Frying Pan

Our Calphalon Ceramic frying pan is the most versatile frying pan out there. It has held up to so much use and it really is nonstick. My scrambled eggs just glide right off without leaving anything in the pan! I have a really bad habit of ruining or burning pans and this is the one pan that I think is impossible to ruin. I also really like that it comes with a lid!

9. Egg Boiler

I first used an egg boiler when I was visiting my grandparents and I love it. We eat a lot of eggs and the egg boiler makes perfect hard, medium, or soft boiled eggs every time!

10. Nice Kitchen/Dish Towels

I am actually really picky about kitchen dish towels. They need to be thick and absorbent enough to dry hands, dishes, and kitchen surfaces. I searched and searched for the perfect dish towels until I came across these on Utopia Towels Amazon. They had a ton of great reviews and are super affordable so I decided to check them out!

These towels are awesome! They are really absorbent, super durable, and live up to all the positive reviews on Amazon!

So as I was writing this I thought of so many kitchen tools that make my life so much easier so I thought I would just add a few more to the bottom of my list!
